Akua Taylor Releases New Single “Approve”
A new sound hit itunes yesterday. It’s a powerful song of self-love called “Approve,” produced, written and performed by Akua Taylor. Akua is a Milwaukee, WI native and graduate of Fisk University. After getting liberal airplay on her groundbreaking album, “Just Trying to Live,” Akua has found a new purpose for her music and is unveiling the new single in a new genre. “Motivational Soul” is music that uplifts the spirit, affirms self-love and attracts positivity.
Akua leads the new genre with her company P.recious M.essenger P.roductions. P.M.P. is a multi-faceted educational entertainment company, specializing in the production of motivational music and theatrical programming. Programs include “Reach Higher,” the motivational singing assembly for students of all ages and “ASSATA: one woman,” the play about exiled former Black Panther Party member Assata Shakur.
At 12pm this Saturday September 3rd, join Akua as she celebrates the release of “Approve,” at Albee Square downtown Brooklyn on Dekalb Avenue and Fulton Street. The concert “Late Summer Sounds” features Brooklyn’s top artists and is presented by MoCADA, Museum of Contemporary African Diasporan Arts.
