Born and raised in Milwaukee Wisconsin, Akua is the daughter of retired news anchorman Bill Taylor and revolutionary-renaissance woman Daphne Taylor.  She began acting and singing at age 8 with the African American Children’s Theatre.  Akua went on to study Dramatics and Speech at Fisk University where she also sang with the world renowned Fisk Jubilee Singers and reigned as Miss Fisk University 2004-2005.  Ms. Taylor wrote and performed a one woman play about Assata Shakur and independently produced her first EP, “Just Tryin to Live,” upon graduating.

On New Year’s Day 2006, Akua packed her bags for New York City.  She quickly connected to the area’s top entertainment professionals, while teaching drama and voice afterschool in the community of Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn.  Her company, P.recious M.essenger P.roductions, offers motivational programs, live performances and coaching services.

Ms. Taylor’s most important calling came in August 2009 when she gave birth to her son.  She has since assisted other women in ritual of natural birth, and regularly champions causes for female empowerment.
